Gaby Baldock

Program Director

Originally from Northern California, Gaby Baldock grew up a Nevada County native. At a young age, she started competing as an elite gymnast, which in return led to the start of her dance career. Gaby attended University of California, Irvine where she earned a full ride scholarship along with a degree in dance and education. She then moved to New York City where she danced professionally for six years. Gaby was a member of SynthesisDANCE under the artistic direction of Tracie Stanfield and BEings Dance under the artistic direction of Emily Bufford. Gaby has performed at numerous venues including BAM, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, High Line Ballroom, Ailey City Group Theater, The Brooklyn Musuem, and the Salvatore Capezio Theater. She has taught at Broadway Dance Center’s Children and Teen program, AMDA college & Conservatory of the Performing Arts in NYC and surrounding studios in the tristate area. After moving back to Nevada County, Gaby was hired as the assistant Director of Theatrical Dance at Nevada Union High School as well as the Director of the Advanced Dance Team, Lines in Motion. In 2019, Gaby was hired to be the director of the dance program at Bear River High School. Gaby loves to share her passion for dance with her students and help foster their love of dance!

Callie Jonutz

Assistant Director

Callie Jonutz is a dedicated dance educator and choreographer with a passion for fostering creativity and technique in her students. Growing up in Grass Valley, Northern California, Callie began dancing at the age of eight. She spent her adolescent years honing her skills at In Sync Dance and as a part of the advanced dance program at Nevada Union High School. Callie continued her studies at California State University, Long Beach, where she trained for two years in the Dance program before relocating to Costa Rica in 2019. There, she served as the Assistant Director of a local dance studio, teaching ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, and pointe. During her time in Costa Rica, she co-produced and choreographed for their productions of The Nutcracker and Aladdin. Upon returning to Northern California, Callie co-founded the Lost Dance Project in Nevada City, where she taught contemporary and jazz dance while working with both company dancers and community members. Her commitment to growing the dance community continued with her involvement in the Bear River Dance Program, where she began setting choreography in 2022. Currently, Callie serves as the Assistant Director of the Bear River Dance Program, where she teaches and coaches dancers at all levels in ballet, contemporary and jazz. She also coaches both the Junior Varsity and Varsity Dance Teams, and serves as the program’s photographer. Callie strives to create a positive and supportive environment that inspires creativity and technical development, encouraging her students to become strong, well-rounded dancers.

  • Emmy Bucher

    Born and raised in Grass Valley, California, Emmy is a proud Bear River High School alum from the Class of 2022. With a lifelong passion for dance, they started training at the age of four and have developed expertise in ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, pom, Bollywood, and jazz funk. During their time at Bear River, they were president of the dance program, further showcasing their leadership and dedication to the art.

    After high school, Emmy took her skills to the professional level, spending a year dancing with the NBA. Now, she is excited to share their knowledge and love for dance with the next generation. Her goal as a teacher is to inspire confidence, creativity, and growth in every student while fostering a fun and supportive learning environment.

  • Kacie Delarosa

    Kacie De La Rosa is a dynamic dancer with professional company experience, five years of teaching under her belt, and international award nominations for her choreography. Passionate about inspiring the next generation, she brings energy, expertise, and a fresh perspective to every class. Whether on stage or in the studio, her goal is to ignite creativity and instill confidence in every dancer she works with. Follow her journey @kaciedlrosa on Instagram.

  • Abrielle Farr

    Hello, my name is Abrielle, and I am 19 years old. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, where I began dancing at the age of five. My competitive dance journey started at seven with Innovation Dance Company, now known as Evolve Dance Center. I later transitioned to The Rock Center for Dance, where I competed until I was 14.

    After taking a brief hiatus from dance, I joined the dance program at Coronado High School. During my junior year, I relocated to Grass Valley and became a member of the Bear River dance program, where I remained for two years. While at Bear River, I choreographed three pieces for the program.

    Following my high school graduation, I joined Sac Unity as a dancer for the 2024 season. Most recently, I became a member of The Collective Dance Company, based in Sacramento.

  • Sophie Humphers

    Sophie Humphers was born and raised in Nevada County. At 15, Sophie moved to New York City where she was a full time ballet trainee at Joffrey Ballet School. Sophie has attended intensives at Alonzo King LINES Ballet and ART of by William Forsythe in Zurich, Switzerland. She has trained under Myrna Galle of Ballet Russe, Era Jouravlev, and Andrea Webber of The Merce Cunningham Dance Company. Sophie founded a local dance company and studio in Nevada City 2020 and continued teaching after moving back to New York City in 2023. Now, Sophie is teaching and choreographing around Nevada County. 

  • Alexa Tran

    Lex is honored to continue choreographing for Bear River Dance, a program that played a huge role in her dance journey. A proud graduate of the class of 2022, she choreographed for the program throughout their three years as a dance student. Her dance journey began at the age of four with ballet, later expanding into contemporary, jazz, hip hop, and modern.

    Currently, Lex is an undergraduate student at UC Santa Barbara, studying Financial Mathematics and Statistics. Alongside her academic pursuits, she works as a Research Assistant and Student Assistant for UCSB’s Department of Education and volunteers as a junior high school math tutor. Despite a busy schedule, her passion for dance remains strong—she continues taking community dance classes and loves coming back every year to share hercreativity with Bear River Dance.

  • Klaire Wolford

    Klaire graduated from Bear River in 2021 and was a part of the dance program for three years. She was greatly involved in the program by being co-president her senior year and participating in student choreography. She first began dancing at 3 years old, and had a passion for all styles but focused on ballet, contemporary, and jazz.

    Klaire has continued her dance journey in College and is a Team Captain of the San Jose State Dance Team. She has enjoyed performing on the sidelines of all home football and basketball games, competing at nationals, and being a brand ambassador for San Jose State Athletics at donor engagement events, in the classroom, and the community. One of her favorite moments was traveling with her team to Hawaii for a bowl game. 

    Currently Klaire is in her senior year as an undergraduate student at San Jose State University. She will be graduating this May with her B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Event Management. She will continue her education this coming fall in the Master's of Kinesiology: Sports Management Program at SJSU. Parallel to her schooling, Klaire works for The College of Business as an Event Planner and Interns for San Jose State Athletics Creative, Marketing, and Events Team. She just returned from her Internship with Pebble Beach as a Special Event Manager at the AT&T Pro-Am.

    Klaire holds the Bear River Dance in high esteem and is filled with gratitude to return to choreograph for the program that fostered her personal and athletic growth.
